Florida home inspector license overview

Florida home inspectors are licensed by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Here is a plain summary of the published requirements as of late 2026. Confirm every detail on the DBPR home inspectors page.

Education

Florida law requires an approved course of study of at least 120 hours covering eight components of a home: structure, electrical, HVAC, roof covering, plumbing, interior, exterior and site conditions that affect the structure.

Exam choices

DBPR does not run the exam itself. It approves exams from outside organizations, and its list includes the National Home Inspector Examination along with other approved options. Check the current list on DBPR's exam information page and pick the one your course provider recommends.
